Washington

I am close to a month late with this post! I'll be completely honest and say once I returned I was in Operation Christmas mode. I went for E's 20th birthday and to visit a girlfriend. I must say it was the BEST trip to Washington I've had (they say the third time's a charm). Here's a recap of my trip from Howard Homecoming, my first Metro ride (first train ride to be exact), many, many historic spots, tacos, endless brunch, random vintage shops, whiskey tasting at Jack Rose, lunch at Stan's (one of my friend's favorite/most recommended spots), and TWO bakeries (with The Cake Room being my favorite)!

Brunch at Cava Mezze. Cava made the top ten list of the most amazing brunches I have ever had! All you can eat brunch and .25 mimosas! YES!

Dr. Martin Luther King Monument

We visited the Mary McLeod Bethune house! This was significant because E is apart of an organization with core values and community outreach that originates from Mary McLeod. This area was so scenic and beautiful!

We definitely thought we would not have the opportunity to visit the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History. Truth be told, we got up 6:30 a.m. to catch the metro (with the help of good friends- such a scary experience) to walk multiple blocks to stand in line for an hour (or more) to be told we couldn't get in on the "daily free passes". We left and we to the M.M.B house. After lunch at District Taco, I stumbled across Sappore Oil and Vinegar and had a random vinegar tasting. Afterwards, I got an e-mail from a colleague with TICKETS! It was completely WORTH IT!

Looking back, there were so many things we got to explore with my girlfriend (so thankful for her). So glad I got to explore this beautiful city again with E.
