Kitchen Aid Architect Series Blender Review

3:21 PM

I am a lover of reviews. It's the easiest way for me to determine if I am purchasing a product or not! One thing I did when I purchased this blender was read reviews. What I didn't do, was check the reviews for my specific purpose. Smoothies.

Model:
                Color: Matte Pistachio

Where I purchased:
Macy's (online)
*When I went back to check the product reviews after purchase, the product was no longer available.

 Purchase price:
$95.00 (on sale). Regular price $189.00
 What I liked:
  •  The color! It has a beautiful soft mint matte finish, very chic.
  • The buttons were flat and easy to use. You have to press the power button on after plugging up before pressing one of the five functions. The design supports easy clean up and doesn't allow waste to get in the crevasses of the buttons.
  • It's sturdy and secure with lock capability for the pitcher. I was able to easily secure the base to the mixing stand as well as latch the lid to the pitcher. While blending I had no issues with spillage or the top coming off.
What I didn't like:
  • I purchased this blender with the intent to use for smoothies. With my use, I couldn't find the best setting to use for smoothies. I tried the pulse setting the first day, then the liquefy, and then the stir. None of these options provided me the smooth consistency I was looking for with this blender like I got with a Nutribullet. (The next day I tried all the possible features and still had the same result).
  • I could not get a smooth consistent texture. The diamond shaped pitcher allowed the ingredients to move easily and smoothly through the pitcher. I did not have to open and stir, but I did have gritty pieces throughout. After I purchased, I watched videos online which indicated the same. I saw ONE video that showed a "smooth" smoothie. In every other video I saw there was the same grit texture in their mixtures.
  • The description indicated "coupler is nylon coated for quiet operation". Although it was not terribly loud, it was not "quiet". The sound was of an average blender.
Why I thought about returning it:

I wasn't satisfied with my smoothie making process. I already own two other blenders that do a similar job to the Kitchen Aid Architect Series. After I made the decision to test out my smoothies in my other blender, I decided to return. I am sure I could use this blender for other things like puree's, mixed drinks, and etc., but my primary reason for purchase (and what I would use most commonly for) are smoothies.

Overall, I would recommend this blender for someone who wants to make cocktails, purees, soups or sauces. I wouldn’t purchase this for other uses. This model promotes 5 in 1 capabilities, but for the price and the brand, I expected a a smoother finish for my blended drinks.
